Stretchable TPU Color Wrap Film is a 7.5 mil aliphatic urethane color-change film built for vehicles with difficult geometry: deep bumper recesses, door handles, mirror caps, wheel arches, rivets and tight compound curves. It combines four properties that usually pull against each other in one roll: a heat-activated self-healing surface, impact absorption against stone chips, a pressure-sensitive adhesive that releases cleanly when the film is removed, and elongation high enough to wrap deep draws without thinning the color layer.
Most installers who abandon a color film do so for one of two reasons: the film tears or whitens on a hard recess, or the removal at end of term takes paint with it. This page documents how this product is designed against both failures, the measured elongation and peel values, the working limits that keep the film inside warranty, and the conditions under which clean removal is guaranteed.
Why Stretch and Clean Removal Are Engineering ProblemsColored TPU is a laminate of a pigment-bearing top coat, a clear elastomer core, an adhesive and a liner. When the film is stretched, every layer thins in proportion. Stretch a colored film 40 percent on a deep recess and the color layer becomes noticeably lighter in that area, which is the source of the patchy look that gives cheap color wraps away in sunlight. The elastomer core in this product is formulated for high elongation with low modulus, so the film follows a compound curve with less force and less thinning at the same draw depth. Practical guidance is to stay at or below 25 to 30 percent on visible flat-adjacent surfaces and to approach 40 percent only inside recesses that are not viewed straight on.
Clean removal is the second engineering problem, and it is governed by adhesive chemistry rather than by force. A high-tack permanent adhesive holds well but can lift refinish paint or leave adhesive residue after five summers of UV and heat cycling. The acrylic system used here is formulated to build bond over the first days and then stay chemically stable, so removal at end of term requires moderate peel force and leaves no crosslinked residue. Removal is easier and safer when the panel is warmed to roughly 40 degrees C and the film is pulled back at a low angle instead of ripped upward.
Key Features- High stretchability: Elongation above 250 percent typical, with low modulus so the film conforms to deep recesses, rivets and compound curves at lower applicator force and with less color shift than standard color film.
- Conformability in practice: Holds door handle cups, mirror caps, bumper corners and wheel arch returns without relief cuts on most models, and recovers without lifting when post-heated correctly.
- Self-healing surface: Wash-brush marks and light scuffs close within about 30 seconds once the surface reaches roughly 40 degrees C from sunlight, warm water or a heat gun, repeatable across the service life.
- Impact resistance: The TPU core absorbs stone chips and light parking contact on bumpers, hoods and door edges, spreading load through the elastomer rather than into the paint beneath.
- Damage-free removal: Moderate, stable peel force releases the film from sound OEM paint without lifting clear coat and without adhesive residue, verified on aged test panels rather than on freshly applied samples.
- Repositionable during installation: Air release channels vent trapped air and the adhesive allows lifting and re-laying within the working window, so a misaligned panel can be corrected without scrapping the piece.
- Aliphatic non-yellowing base: UV stability is designed into the polymer chain, keeping light colors consistent through years of outdoor exposure.
- Consistent color batch to batch: Color batches are retained and matched, so a repair panel ordered months later stays visually consistent with the original installation.

Values marked typical are representative production figures, not minimum guaranteed limits on every roll. Peel and elongation reports can be supplied per batch on request.
Installation Experience and Working LimitsField feedback from wrap studios using this film converges on a routine that keeps results consistent. Work in a bay between 20 and 30 degrees C; below 15 degrees C the adhesive loses tack and the film stiffens, which invites over-stretching to compensate. Pre-stretch large panels only slightly and let the film relax on the surface before final squeegeeing, otherwise the panel can pull back at the edges over the following week. On deep recesses, heat to 50 to 60 degrees C, work the film in with a glove or a soft squeegee, then post-heat to 60 to 70 degrees C and hold briefly so the memory of the stretch is set.
Two habits protect the removal guarantee. First, do not seal edges with sharp tools or cut into the paint; score the film, not the clear coat, and keep blades fresh. Second, record the installation date and the batch code in the vehicle file. When the film is removed years later, the batch code tells the shop what to expect in peel force, and the recorded date tells them whether the film is still inside the warranty window. In our removal work, the panels that came off cleanly were almost always the ones installed with correct post-heating and maintained with pH-neutral shampoo.
Verification, Compliance and TraceabilityProduction runs under ISO 9001 process control, and the material is tested against REACH, RoHS and FDA requirements, so European and North American importers receive documentation suitable for customs clearance and retail compliance review. Every carton carries a batch code that links back to the coating run, the color batch and the retained sample, so a claim can be traced to a specific production window rather than handled as an anonymous roll.
Documentation available on request includes batch certificate of analysis, material safety data sheet, REACH and RoHS declarations, peel adhesion and elongation reports, and the warranty certificate template issued to the end customer. The company holds TPU invention patents and independent intellectual property in its core material technology, and serves more than 30,000 customers with 60 to 70 percent of output exported.
ApplicationsThis film is specified for vehicles with demanding geometry: SUVs and pickups with deep bumper returns and wheel arch cladding, vans with large flat panels plus tight corners, and any model where the installer would otherwise need relief cuts. It also suits leasing and fleet programs, where damage-free removal at end of term protects the residual value of the vehicle, and rental fleets that re-wrap the same units every few years.
Because the film combines color change with impact protection and clean removability, it replaces three separate purchases for the body shop: a color wrap, a clear protection film on high-impact panels, and a paint correction budget at removal time.
Warranty, Packaging and ServiceThe warranty covers delamination, blistering, cracking, and yellowing beyond an agreed threshold for five years of vertical outdoor exposure, when the film is installed by a trained applicator following the published guidance and maintained with pH-neutral products. It does not cover collision or abrasion damage, automated brush washes with worn bristles, abrasive polishing, strong solvent or alkaline cleaners, removal and reinstallation of the same piece, or failures caused by stretching beyond the recommended working limits or by cutting into the paint during installation. Written terms ship with every order.
Each roll is wound on a hard paper core, wrapped in PE film and packed in an export carton with pallet loading for container shipment. Minimum order is one roll, volume pricing from US$98 to US$115 per roll depending on color and thickness, and standard delivery is 7 to 15 days after deposit. OEM private-label printing on liner and carton is available, and technical support covers stretch technique, recess work, post-heating and removal practice.
Frequently Asked Questions| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Will removal damage the paint? | On sound OEM paint, no. The adhesive is formulated for stable, moderate peel force, and removal at around 40 degrees C releases the film without clear coat lift or residue. Repainted or previously repaired panels carry higher risk and should be checked before installation. |
| How much can the film be stretched safely? | 25 to 30 percent on visible surfaces is the working limit. Up to 40 percent is acceptable inside recesses that are not viewed straight on. Beyond that, color density thins visibly and the warranty does not apply. |
| Can the same piece be lifted and re-applied? | Yes within the working window, using the air release channels and a light reheat. Once the adhesive has fully wet out over several hours, lifting the same piece is not recommended. |
| How long can the film stay on the car? | Five years vertical exposure under the warranty, and longer in practice on garaged vehicles. Removal is easiest within the warranty period while the adhesive is still chemically stable. |
| Does high stretch reduce protection? | The core thins as it stretches, so impact protection is strongest on unstretched flat panels. On deep recesses the film is still protecting paint that would otherwise be exposed, which is the point of the application. |
